Dr. Barbara Arend, DVM
Dr. Barbara Arend graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 with a focus on companion animal medicine. Dr. Arend's areas of interest include dermatology, behavior, and feline medicine. As a child growing up in southeastern Minnesota, Dr. Arend worked for the family business on hog, beef and dairy farms. She received her undergraduate degrees in Marketing and Mass Communications from Minnesota State University - Mankato. After working for years in the corporate arena and volunteering for non-profit animal welfare organizations in Mankato and the Twin Cities, she followed her passion into veterinary medicine. Dr. Arend lives in St. Louis Park with her husband, Chris, and their two geriatric feline friends, Joe and Thumper. She enjoys gardening, hiking, biking and traveling to warm places.
Dr. Amanda Beaudoin, DVM
A Massachusetts native, Dr. Amanda Beaudoin graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She has been working part-time at Scenic Hills since September of 2007 and has a particular interest in preventive care and ophthalmology. Post-graduation from Cornell, Amanda completed a medical and surgical internship at New England Equine, an equine referral clinic in Dover, New Hampshire. Amanda moved to Minnesota in the Fall of 2007 to pursue a PhD in Veterinary Population Medicine, with a focus on infectious disease epidemiology. She is currently working towards that degree, with her research focusing on avian influenza ("bird flu") in Thailand. When not working or studying, Amanda enjoys running, hiking, traveling, golfing and playing with her dog Fenway. She is an avid sports fan with a special passion for baseball and the Boston Red Sox.
